We must have used the words “cinematic soundscapes” somewhere in our back catalog. We must have! Have we? Well, either way, not all films are the same.

This is the first recorded meeting of Dimitar Dodovski (Niskogradba, Dérive Dub, Post Global Trio), Martin Georgievski (Amplidyne Effect, Meissa Ionis, Odron Ritual Orchestra, Post Global Trio) and Ninoslav Spirovski (Fighting Windmills, Svetlost, Odron Ritual Orchestra, Galactic Efendi), captured masterfully by our chief engineer Vladan Drobicki in one of our spiritual homes – SC “Dunja”, earlier this spring. A logical step in the deepening relationship between Macedonia’s ambient / minimalist / field recordings scene, and the burgeoning free-jazz movement, it sees three notable names coming together to approach improvised music from a different angle. Dodovski and Georgievski are masters of sonic weaving (see their previous work together in Post Global Trio, among others) and have pulled Spirovski into their web. Evocative of Spirovski’s work on Svetlost’s “Jazz (to the working class)” this recording sees him in his most sparse and restrained performance, for the first time taking a back seat and listening; attempting and succeeding to impact the dense texturality in all the right moments.

Not all films are the same. Would our protagonists here have continued to make music if they were? With close to 200 releases between them (you read that right!) Dodovski, Georgievski and Spirovski are still trying to break new ground every time they deliberately produce sound. Have they breached a new realm here? Only one way to find out.
